I’ve got a very supportive and friendly Izzati Laoshi, and I can follow her teaching pace, which helps me understand and apply all the knowledge to complete my gongke. I can even use Mandarin in real life for small conversations with my friends. After finishing the CIC class, I can watch Chinese dramas and understand a little of the dialogue, which makes me excited to learn more. Learning Mandarin has improved my memory and focus, and even helped me heal from anxiety and MDD, as I took this class to improve myself and train my focus. It also helped me build confidence to have conversations with my Chindian friends. Overall, the journey has been meaningful, motivating, and I’m grateful for the opportunity. Thank you so much to Izzati Laoshi for encouraging me to join KMC, clearly supporting me in class, and being so helpful to new students. Her classes are fun and engaging. I really enjoyed learning Mandarin with Ain Laoshi. She is friendly and kind, and I learn new words every day. I get to practise speaking Mandarin in class, often doing assignments with classmates. Learning in Kunkwan is very fun and relaxing, as the laoshi always keeps students engaged and patiently answers our questions to make sure we understand. One of my most interesting memories was doing the assignments, especially when we had to converse with a Chinese speaker, which helped me learn pronunciation and boost my confidence in speaking Mandarin. Learning Mandarin has helped me understand simple conversations, and sometimes when I watch Chinese dramas, I can even understand without subtitles. She was very kind, supportive, and made efforts to accommodate all her students, definitely the wow factors for me. I really had fun learning Mandarin with Agnes Laoshi, even though it was a new environment for me. One of my favourite moments was reading the text in the notes with other students. Learning Mandarin with MinQi Laoshi has been interactive, fun, and very supportive. I love how the module is arranged at a pace I can follow. Even with a busy work week, I can slot in this once-a-week 2-hour class, which makes me very happy. My first assignment with a native Mandarin speaker in Level A was memorable. I asked a colleague to be my partner, and she said my pronunciation was surprisingly good! I’m still a beginner and cannot speak or understand Mandarin fully yet, but I believe I’ll be able to once I complete the course. Learning Mandarin has opened me up to a new world and made me appreciate why Chinese speakers sometimes make mistakes in Malay. I now feel encouraged to make mistakes in Mandarin too as part of learning. Learning with Minqi Laoshi since Level A has been such a fun journey! She is very friendly and engaging throughout the class, and even outside class, she supports any questions we have about the Mandarin language. One of my proudest moments was writing a full sentence in Pinyin with accurate tones. The role-playing sessions were entertaining and funny, especially when some of us brought props to act out the scenarios. I’m now able to understand general conversations in daily life, which has boosted my confidence as I love learning languages. I love how Ain lǎoshī handles the class in a fun and structured way, with a clear voice, always smiling, friendly, and using simple sentences that are easy to understand. Memorising the Self Introduction assignment helped me remember the dialogue and speak confidently in front of others. I can now say a few sentences in Mandarin and understand a bit when people speak it. The class is fun and challenging, and for the next level, I’ll definitely enroll in Ain lǎoshī’s class again because of the happy and friendly environment and her excellent Mandarin skills.
