My Mandarin class with Izzati lǎoshī is interactive and fun, making learning enjoyable and less stressful. She is friendly, supportive, and always encourages us to speak with confidence, especially during the 5-minute practice breaks. I love learning real-life phrases that I can use in daily conversations, and the teaching pace is comfortable for beginners. My most memorable moment was taking my first HSK1 exam and getting full marks, even though I started learning Mandarin at 40 with no background, it gave me a lot of confidence and motivated me to continue. Learning Mandarin has helped me understand simple conversations, communicate with native speakers, enjoy Mandarin songs, and improved my memory and confidence. I feel happy, excited, and proud of my progress, and I am motivated to keep learning. The class with Agnes Laoshi was interactive and fun, with a friendly, supportive, and funny laoshi 🙂 It was my first time learning Mandarin in a group setting, and I really enjoyed it. I really enjoyed learning Mandarin with Ain Laoshi. She is friendly and kind, and I learn new words every day. I get to practise speaking Mandarin in class, often doing assignments with classmates. I thought learning Mandarin would be stressful, but the class with Minqi Laoshi turned out to be really fun and engaging. The role plays and interactive approach made it easier to understand the concepts instead of just memorising, and she made sure everyone followed along, which really helped. The role-playing sessions were my favourite, acting out real-life scenarios helped me practise naturally and remember how to use the right sentence structures in context. Passing my HSK1 exam gave me confidence that I can continue learning, and it also helps me appreciate different cultures more deeply. I can now start basic conversations with Mandarin speakers around me. I feel excited and motivated, even though Mandarin isn’t easy, I enjoy the challenge. Understanding how the grammar works instead of just memorising makes me feel like I’m building a solid foundation to go further. Learning alongside classmates from different backgrounds made every class interesting and supportive. I’m very grateful to Minqi Laoshi for always making the lessons clear and enjoyable, and I’m looking forward to continuing my Mandarin journey.

Bunga Laoshi is very patient and always engages with every student in class. The syllabus is full of useful information, and it really helps to practice through homework. Learning Mandarin has been helpful for me as I can now understand my work colleagues when they speak simple sentences. One of the challenges is finding someone to practice with, so I usually plan earlier with my partner, and I feel more confident taking exams when I’m well prepared. I can understand simple questions and replies, and I also make an effort to improve my listening skills by following Mandarin content and listening to Chinese songs to learn pronunciation. As I progress through the levels, I feel a strong sense of achievement, even though it gets more challenging and requires more effort and focus. I’m also thankful to be learning at Kunkwan because of the rich resources and fun events they organise. Bunga Laoshi always encourages participation and is very supportive of everyone’s effort, and I truly hope she continues to teach more students as she is knowledgeable and relatable.

I knew nothing about Mandarin at first, and I realized self-learning wasn’t enough. I needed a proper platform, which is how I found Kunkwan. I got to meet new friends from various backgrounds and laoshi who are very helpful and supportive. Learning Mandarin at Kunkwan is really fun. One of my most interesting experiences was an assignment that required speaking with a Chinese friend. I felt shy at first, afraid of making mistakes in pronunciation, but my friends were very helpful, correcting me like native speakers and teaching me new vocabulary useful for real-life conversations. I think Mandarin is very important, as China and Malaysia are trading partners, so learning it helps me understand conversations better in both business and personal contexts. It also helps me enjoy my favourite Mandarin songs more easily. I feel grateful to be part of the Kunkwan community and always look forward to the next class. Learning with Minqi Laoshi since Level A has been such a fun journey! She is very friendly and engaging throughout the class, and even outside class, she supports any questions we have about the Mandarin language. I’ve got a very supportive and friendly Izzati Laoshi, and I can follow her teaching pace, which helps me understand and apply all the knowledge to complete my gongke. I can even use Mandarin in real life for small conversations with my friends. After finishing the CIC class, I can watch Chinese dramas and understand a little of the dialogue, which makes me excited to learn more. Learning Mandarin has improved my memory and focus, and even helped me heal from anxiety and MDD, as I took this class to improve myself and train my focus. It also helped me build confidence to have conversations with my Chindian friends. Overall, the journey has been meaningful, motivating, and I’m grateful for the opportunity. Classes with Bunga lǎoshī were enjoyable and fun! We were asked to participate in questioning and answering, making every class truly interactive. In the tourism field, communication skills are important, and learning Mandarin has made me more confident to communicate. Mandarin is known to be difficult, and miscommunication often happens, but learning it has helped me break down communication barriers and better understand how Mandarin speakers communicate. It’s such an honour to have Bunga lǎoshī as our Level A teacher. She is kind, patient, understanding, and supportive, making sure students were not intimidated by the complexity of the language. I will forever remember her as the person who made me fall in love with HànYǔ!

The course module is very well-developed, and Ain Laoshi is attentive, patient, and very knowledgeable. Taking the HSK exam and doing role-playing as buyer and seller were some of the most memorable experiences, along with meeting new friends. I’m now more confident speaking Mandarin daily and can interact with my customers, understanding what they say. Learning has been fun, motivating, and I can see my progress.
