I’ve learned that people from different walks of life share the same goal, even with age differences, we all want to improve together. I’m now able to understand Mandarin speakers better, which allows me to connect with their world as they connect with mine. It’s like solving a puzzle I’m eager to understand, take apart, improve, and integrate into my life. Having multiple languages is a key to growth, whether in my career or relationships, and it truly makes me a better person. Agnes Laoshi is simply adorable and teaches at the perfect pace. I like that Ain lǎoshī always entertains my questions outside class hours, even on her day off, and responds with great explanations. For homework, I interviewed Chinese friends in Mandarin, and I also understand more while watching Chinese dramas. I feel proud of myself, doing something meaningful as I’m retired. Minqi Laoshi uses fun activities, like asking each student to answer questions in Mandarin and encouraging us to explain our understanding. The lessons are very structured and easy to follow, and she always shares interesting cultural facts, which makes the class exciting and motivating. One of my most memorable experiences was speaking entirely in Mandarin for the first time in class. I was nervous, but answering correctly made me feel proud and confident, showing me my progress. Taking the HSK exam for the first time was also unforgettable; after years without exams, I was nervous, but I passed with flying colours. I can now understand simple Mandarin and have basic conversations with my Chinese friends, and even get discounts at Chinese shops when they notice I can speak a little Mandarin. Mandarin has become one of my favourite languages besides English. As a child, I dreamed of speaking it fluently, and now that dream is almost coming true, which keeps me excited to continue learning. Minqi Laoshi has become my favourite teacher after Cloris Laoshi. She makes lessons fun, understandable, and always supports us patiently every week. Thank you, Minqi Laoshi!

The course module is very well-developed, and Ain Laoshi is attentive, patient, and very knowledgeable. Taking the HSK exam and doing role-playing as buyer and seller were some of the most memorable experiences, along with meeting new friends.
