The course module is very well-developed, and Ain Laoshi is attentive, patient, and very knowledgeable. Taking the HSK exam and doing role-playing as buyer and seller were some of the most memorable experiences, along with meeting new friends. I’m now more confident speaking Mandarin daily and can interact with my customers, understanding what they say. Learning has been fun, motivating, and I can see my progress. One of my most memorable experiences was sitting for an exam alongside much younger students. Even though we were at different stages of life, the nervousness felt just like my university days. I really appreciate how Izzati Laoshi constantly checks our understanding throughout the class, corrects our pronunciation, and reminds us about tones while guiding us step by step. She always encourages us to construct sentences and gently corrects us, which helps reinforce grammar in a very supportive way. As an older learner, I used to be afraid of making mistakes, but KunKwan provides a safe and comfortable environment to learn from them. Even though the classes are online, they are still very interactive and engaging. The learning experience also reminds me of my Nihongo days, especially when memorizing characters, and I find it fun how Hanzi is taught in a more visual and engaging way. One of my most memorable experiences was completing an assignment where I had to interview a stranger, which turned out to be both challenging and rewarding. Learning Mandarin has helped me in daily situations like shopping or visiting the hospital, and I now enjoy understanding signages and picking up conversations around me, even though people speak very fast! Overall, learning Mandarin has been meaningful as it allows better connection and understanding with others in Malaysia. I’m really glad to get to know Bunga Laoshi. Her teaching is fun, and I can understand the lessons much better, xiexie! I can now speak a bit of Mandarin with my friends and understand some of the way native speakers talk. Learning at Kunkwan has also helped me enjoy Chinese dramas more, as I can now watch some without relying too much on subtitles.
