I have a very patient Minqi lǎoshī who is always willing to answer any questions during class, which is very encouraging and helpful. A memorable moment was making a self-recording video while reading a Mandarin script I had written, making sure my intonation was accurate. Learning Mandarin has allowed me to have short conversations with Chinese shopkeepers near my home, and I’m pleased to practice what I learned at Kunkwan. The journey is challenging but rewarding, and I am motivated to continue improving my oral and written Mandarin. Classes with Bunga lǎoshī were enjoyable and fun! We were asked to participate in questioning and answering, making every class truly interactive. In the tourism field, communication skills are important, and learning Mandarin has made me more confident to communicate. Mandarin is known to be difficult, and miscommunication often happens, but learning it has helped me break down communication barriers and better understand how Mandarin speakers communicate. It’s such an honour to have Bunga lǎoshī as our Level A teacher. She is kind, patient, understanding, and supportive, making sure students were not intimidated by the complexity of the language. I thought learning Mandarin would be stressful, but the class with Minqi Laoshi turned out to be really fun and engaging. The role plays and interactive approach made it easier to understand the concepts instead of just memorising, and she made sure everyone followed along, which really helped. The role-playing sessions were my favourite, acting out real-life scenarios helped me practise naturally and remember how to use the right sentence structures in context.
